What time is it Mr. Wolf?
No I wasn't playing tag with kids, they would probably beat me. I have my HP Z3801A GPS-based frequency and time standard working.
I don't have it setup permanently yet, I need to securely mount the GPS antenna outside, so it doesn't blow away in the wind, and doesn't sway around either.
I also have to finish the putting the my home made power supply cleanly in the case, for my own safety and to keep my insurance company from canceling my house insurance. I did most of the remaining metal work last night, now I simply need to solder or connect everything back together.
I uploaded some photos to my photo site, under Amateur Radio. HP Z3801A GPS disciplined oscillator.
Most of the information I needed to get it running I found at Almost everything you need to know about the HP Z3801A GPS receiver by Bill Jones K8CU and the time-nuts mailing list.
I needed to fix the audio squeal that was coming from the DC-DC converter, and switch the DB-25 connector to RS-232 rather than RS-422 serial signal (David Fifield, AD6A), and build a home made unregulated DC power supply (Bill Jones K8CU).
This doesn't mean I will be on time or not sleep in, but at least I'll be able to know what time it is. Within < 100ns.
